Vestibular / Vertigo Physiotherapy

At our clinic, we are specially trained in the assessment and treatment of vestibular and vertigo issues. Our dedicated Physiotherapists, Levi and Amelia, are specially trained to help you regain your balance, improve your dizziness and quality of life.

What is Vertigo?

Vertigo is a sensation of spinning or dizziness, often making it feel like you or your surroundings are moving when they are not. There are several causes of vertigo, including but not limited to:
  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV): Caused by small crystals in the inner ear becoming dislodged.
  • Vestibular Neuritis: Inflammation of the vestibular nerve.
  • Meniere’s Disease: A disorder of the inner ear causing severe dizziness, tinnitus, and hearing loss.
  • Vestibular Hypofunction: When your vestibular system isn't working properly. This often occurs after Vestibular Neuritis, Meniere's Disease etc.

What to Expect in a Physiotherapy Session:

During your session, our Physiotherapists will conduct a thorough assessment to understand your specific condition.

It is normal to experience an exacerbation of your symptoms during the assessment. This is necessary so that we are able to diagnose your cause of symptoms accurately. We recommend that you have a family member or friend drive you to the appointment incase you feel a bit off after the session.
Your treatment sessions may include:
  • Thorough Interview: Discussion about the history of your symptoms.
  • Use of Vesticam Goggles: These specialised goggles help us precisely diagnose your type of vertigo and track eye movements.
  • Balance and Gait Assessment: Evaluating your stability and walking patterns.
  • Customized Treatment Plans: Exercises and maneuvers tailored to your condition.
